Manifest Space CEO, Nick Orenstein, has been invited to participate as a private sector advisor in a discussion group convened by the U.S. Department of State supporting U.S. engagement with the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space Expert Group on Space Situational Awareness (SSA).

The discussion group brings together industry experts to provide input on improving information sharing, communication, and coordination among satellite operators as orbital activity continues to grow.

Topics under consideration include what operational data spacecraft operators should share, how operator contact information could be standardized for coordination and anomaly response, and whether international mechanisms may be needed to support more effective communication between spacecraft operators.

The United States has emphasized that private sector participation is essential to ensure that any future SSA frameworks are practical, implementable, and grounded in operational realities.

Nick joins the group as part of Manifest’s broader engagement with the emerging infrastructure needed for safer and more coordinated space operations, and to contribute to the development of practical standards for space traffic coordination.

Manifest is building onboard transponders and data systems designed to give spacecraft a persistent identity and position in orbit, a foundational capability for future coordination and space traffic management systems.
